A CDE or Career Development Event is an event that FFA members participate in to help develop leadership skills and learn how to work with others as a team. There are many CDE options and here are some that we as a chapter are participating in this year!

Soil JudgingSoil judging happens during the fall and normally a group of our members do very well in it. These students will be taken to a farm and there will be pits of soil for them to judge and determine if the soil is in proper conditions and what it can be used for. They are split into two groups, Urban and Rural.

Parlimentary ProcedureParlimentary Procedure is when there are 8 members and where they learn how to properly run a meeting using Roberts Rules of Order while debating on topics given to determine if it will be a good idea for the chapter to do this or not. There is novice parli which is for students that are in there first and second years of ag class. Then there is the advanced parli which is for the students beyond that.

FOOD SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY
In food science members are given various tests to explore the field of food sciences and technologies. Members are able to gain an appreciation for the food industry, develop a strong knowledge of sound principles from the food industry, and create a product along with their fellow team members.

JOB INTERVIEW AG SALES Dairy Foods Science CDE
Job Interview allows students to participate in a mock job application and interview, complete with a follow up letter, cover letter, and resume. Our members learn employability skills as well as how to relay information in a effective manner.

In Ag Sales members are given an example product, product information and customer profiles at the start of the event from which they collaboratively develop a sales plan. Members in this CDE learn great communication and teamworking skills.

Dairy foods CDE is for people interested in learning about the products that come from dairy. You will be asked to identify different dairy food products like cheeses and milks. (Sign ups are posted)

In this CDE members participating learn the basic principles that make a flower a flower. They are asked to make bud vases and indentify equitment used in the floriculture industry. (Sign ups are posted)

In General Livestock Judging members judge classes of Heifers, Steers, Hogs, Goats, and sheep. The place the classes and answer a few questions regarding the class. This CDE is great for members interested in the animal science career field. (Sign ups are posted)

Soil Judging - Numerous members participated in the rural and urban soil judging contest at the county level. On September 27th, Kade Tegtmeier, Emma Connelly, Makenna Connelly, Haley Caldwell, and Veah Kirk competed at the district rural soil judging contest and placed 1st. On October 14th, Haley Caldwell, Emma Connelly, and Makenna Connelly competed at the state soil judging contest and placed 30th as a team.
On September 27th, Jenna Hjerpe, Kate Johnson, Caleb Lahmon, Taylor Leidigh, and Gabi Riedel competed at the district urban soil judging contest and placed 5th.
Food Science - On December 12th, Haley Caldwell, Addy Connelly, Emma Connelly, Makenna Connelly, Mallory Gilbert, Brooke Hershey, Emilie Ott, Ella Saal, Alivia Welch and Preston Wilcox traveled to Triway High School and competed in the district Food Science CDE contest where they placed first. On January 13th, Emma Connelly, Makenna Connelly, Ella Saal, and Preston Wilcox competed at the state contest which was held at The Ohio State University. They placed 10th in the state! Congrats!
Job Interview - On November 7th, Emma Connelly, Kayla Cutter, Clara Saal, and Kade Tegtmeier competed at the districts job interview CDE contest. Emma Connelly (Division 2) and Kade Tegtmeier (Division 4) both placed 2nd at districts job interview contest. Clara Saal (Division 1) and Kayla Cutter (Division 3) both placed 1st and went on to compete at this years state contest. At the state prelims, Clara Saal (Division 1) placed 5th at the state level and Kayla Cutter (Division 3) placed 8th at the state level. Congrats to all our member who participated this year!
Parlimentary Procedure (Novice) - On November 7th, the novice parlimentary procedure team competed at the subdistricts contest and placed 3rd. The novice parlimentary procedure team consists of Alivia Welch (president), Lilly Boreman (vice-president), Sophie Morris (secretary), Haley Mclaughlin (reporter), Madi Frazier (treasurer), Brooke Hershey (sentinal), Olivia Madden (student advisor), and Clara Saal (member). On November 14th, Alivia Welch (president), Lilly Boreman (Vice President), Sophie Morris (secretary), Haley Mclaughlin (reporter), Madi Frazier (treasurer), Allie Wellert (sentinal), Olivia Madden (student advisor), and Mckenzie Cutter (member) competed at the districts contest and placed 2nd.
On December 2nd, the novice parlimentary procedure team consisting of Alivia Welch (president), Lilly Boreman (vice-president), Sophie Morris (secretary), Haley Mclaughlin (reporter), Madi Frazier (treasurer), Brooke Hershey (sentinal), Olivia Madden (student advisor), and Mckenzie Cutter (member) competed at the states contest. They placed 4th in room 1. Congrats!
Parlimentary Procedure (Advanced) - On November 7th, the advanced parlimentary procedure team competed at the subdistricts contest and placed 1st. The advanced parlimentary procedure team consists of Kade Tegtmeier (president), Mallory Gilbert (secretary), Kirsten Boreman (member), Kayla Cutter (member), Emma Connelly (member), and Preston Wilcox (member). They also competed at the districts contest and placed 1st. On December 9th, the advanced parlimentary procedure team competed at the state contest! They placed 3rd in room 4. Congratulations to this years advanced parli pro team!
Public Speaking - On Febuary 8th, Brooke Hershey and Jamison Gilbert participated in the public speaking CDE. Brooke competed in Creed Speaking and placed 6th in the district. Jamison Gilbert competed in extemporaneous speaking and placed 6th in the district.
Ag Sales - Kade Tegtmeier, Preston Wilcox, Jacoby Gilbert, Emma Connelly, and Brooke Hershey competed at the district contest where they placed 1st. On March 11th, Kade Tegtmeier, Preston Wilcox, Jacoby Gilbert, and Emma Connelly competed at the state contest where they placed 17th. Congrats!
Livestock Judging - Throughout the year, Kade Tegtmeier, Emma Connelly, Addy Connelly, Makenna Connelly, and Tristen Flinn competed at multiple contest where they placed great at all their contests.
